Coldplay Snub X Factor Appearance

As the X Factor draws to a close, Coldplay, one of the bands of the moment, have revealed that they snubbed the offer to appear on the final show of the reality talent contest.

In a recent interview, Chris Martin admitted that the producers of the hit ITV show had recently contacted them about making a performance, although the lead singer admits that the band had split feelings about whether or not to take the gig.

Martin said: “Sometimes the things that you're offered split the band and that always means you end up not doing them.”

The multi-award winning artists went on to explain that he, fellow guitarist Johnny Buckland and their manager were all positive about the idea of appearing on X Factor but others weren’t.

Chris added: “I think half of us would love to play The X Factor and half of us say that's a bad idea... me, Phil, Jonny would probably do anything.”

Rumours were spreading around that the band were being lined up for a finale duet with singer Janet Devlin, who sang a very impressive rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ earlier in the series. However, with this weekend’s voting finished and Miss Devlin being voted off the show, that initial rumour is obviously water under the bridge now.

So what do Coldplay do when an acrimonious dispute is in the air?

Drummer Will Champion said: “If one of us is down about something generally it can be resolved by grabbing some guitars and playing a Smiths song."

Good music seems to be the cure for most things!
