Missing Andy Aiming For Christmas #1 With 'Dave' - Video Inside

Essex-based Britpop five-piece Missing Andy have unveiled their ambitious attempt at topping the Christmas chart – with their hilariously funny video ‘Dave’.

The darkly comic ‘Dave’, which is a live favourite among fans, will get a release on December 18th and is a far cry from festive favourites like ‘Mistletoe & Wine’. The album it’s been pulled from, ‘Generation Silenced’, has also been including on HMV’s ‘Next Best Thing’ list and will hit shelves on February 6th, complete with 11 more songs written by the band themselves.

‘Dave’ is the story of ‘Dirty Suzanna’, whom the band met in Canning Town after a gig. She’s a girl with romance on her mind that’s keen to get onto the band’s bus, even if the guys are not so sure. The song is infused with dub undertones and is in the same narrative vein as The Jam, The Clash and The Specials. Despite the humorous video and lines, ‘Dave’ nonetheless proves the band’s ambitious lyrical swagger and underlines the story-telling, lyrical approach that Missing Andy take.

Amazingly, the band have already achieved two Top 40 hits with ‘The Way We’re Made (Made In England)’ and ‘Sing For The Deaf’, which came on the back of the band’s appearance on Sky One’s ‘Must Be The Music’. In true, barnstorming Missing Andy style, they charged all the way to the final, performed in front of 11,000 at Wembley and then walked away from a deal with Universal that would have required changing what they were about – now that’s how it should be done. Check the ‘Dave’ video out below.
