New Nine Inch Nails Album In Store For 2012?

American industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails could be releasing their ninth studio album next year, frontman Trent Reznor has hinted.
The potential album would be their first in four years following 2008’s ‘The Slip’, and would follow Reznor’s work on the soundtrack for blockbuster film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which comes out later this month.
“Nine Inch Nails is not dead by any means, but all the touring and record writing has been thrown off for a little bit,” Reznor revealed. “I highly expect that to be the focus of 2012 in terms of writing and we may see a full-length release even.”
He continued: “It started to feel like if I didn't force myself into a change I would regret it. It's a fear of not wanting to try things because you're in a comfort zone. I always think about my hero David Bowie and his fearlessness to destroy something that isn't ready to break yet and start something new.
“He'd throw out an identity, confuse his audience and it's a great risk career-wise. But he had the balls and didn't milk it out to the last drop.”
NIN fans may have to wait a little longer for any new material from Reznor – unless you go out and watch The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which comes out December 26th. Reznor produced the soundtrack alongside Atticus Ross, the same pair of artists that did the soundtrack for The Social Network.
