Lady Gaga Declared Highest-Earning Female Artist Of 2011

Eccentric pop superstar Lady Gaga has been named by Forbes as the highest-earning female in music this year – after earning a staggering $90MILLION (£58million) in 2011 alone.
Gaga has had a rather busy year, releasing her third studio album ‘Born This Way’ back in May, setting her on the course for financial freedom. In the United States alone, Gaga sold 1,108,000 copies of the album in the FIRST WEEK alone, and has gone 2x platinum. Accompanied by two DVD releases, ‘Gaga at Madison Square Garden’ and ‘A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, as well as completing the backend of the Monster Ball tour, Gaga would have made an absolute killing from her musical releases and performances alone.
Add to this her lucrative sponsorship deals, extremely profitable endorsements and television appearances left right and centre, and it’s almost unsurprising that Gaga managed to rack up such a big fortune for the year.
What’s even more startling is that her closest competitor in the list, singer Taylor Swift, earned $45million – meaning Gaga managed to double second places ‘score’. Yo Taylor, Im’a let you finish... but Lady Gaga was one of the highest earners of all time.
Representing Britain on the list is Adele, who moved into the Forbes list for the first time. After selling 12million copies of ‘21’ worldwide, she managed to earn herself a cool $18million.
