Hard rock heroes The Darkness have reportedly finished nine of the tracks they hope to feature on their brand new studio album, which is set for a spring 2012 release.
Frontman Justin Hawkins told Billboard.com in an interview that nine of the tracks had been completely finished, so they were hoping that the whole thing will be over and done with by some point in January. And, if they have managed to finish it by January, Hawkins ideal release date would be March 17th – his 37th birthday.
“[We've got] nine of the required songs done, all finished, all sounding shining and good,” Hawkins reveaked. “We've got about two weeks of recording in January, and bits of it are already going off to be mixed even as we speak, so it's kind of nearly finished now.”
Justin’s brother Dan Hawkins continued on to talk about the direction the band has taken with their new record. “Rather than a big-name producer we decided to do it ourselves, as per the first record. We just wanted to develop the songs and make sure they were really spot-on and basically take a minimal approach across the board - apart from when we needed to go really over the top.”
The Darkness have a special forest show scheduled for next year – for the dates and details, check below.
