Protomartyr Announce New Album 'Hotel Usona', Post Lead Single Sounds We Cannot Hear

Protomartyr have shared details of their new album.

The Detroit post-punk band will release 'Hotel Usona', the follow-up to 2023's 'Formal Growth In The Desert', on September 25 via Domino.

As a preview, the band — vocalist Joe Casey, drummer Alex Leonard, bassist Scott Davidson and multi-instrumentalist and co-producer Greg Ahee  — have shared the single Sounds We Cannot Hear, a genre-blurring track that's abrasive yet melodic. It arrives with a video by Danny Scharar and Harris Mayersohn starring comedian, actor and television writer Nate Varrone. 

They recorded the album with renowned producer Dave Fridmann, whose resume boasts Sleater-Kinney, MGMT and The Flaming Lips, at his own Tarbox Road Studios in New York, with his son Jon contributing horns.

It is said to be one of Protomartyr's most powerful records to date, with Casey imagining his country as an aging hotel with each room haunted by a different guest, while musically Ahee draws influence from the Middle East and ‘50s exotica.

They will support 'Hotel Usona' with a North American tour this fall, followed by UK and European shows in February. Tickets are on sale now.
