Vote For 2012 BRIT Awards Via New Mobile Phone App

With less than a week to go until the nominees of The BRIT Awards 2012 are announced, it has been revealed that for the first time ever, the categories open to a public vote will be able to be voted for via mobile phones.

From next Thursday, 12th January, the BRIT Awards iPhone app will be available to download for free via Apple's App Store, as the nominations are announced at London's Savoy on the same evening.

The App will feature news and competition elements, including allowing voting for nominees in the three award categories of:

- 10 nominees for British Single (voted for by listeners of Capital FM and users of iTunes)
- 5 nominees for British Group (supported by BBC Radio 2)
- 5 nominees for British Breakthrough (supported by BBC Radio 1).

The BRIT Awards app will also offer chances to win tickets, and provide fans with news updates directly from the Awards and the ability to purchase performance audio from the night of the Awards.

Development company Noise Inc. fast-tracked the development of The BRIT Award app, meeting a one month deadline to meet the go live date in conjunction with the Award Nominations announcement at The Savoy Hotel in London. The project, headed by Noise Inc.’s veteran BRIT School alumni James Coughlan, demonstrates the multi-layered possibility for a major brand to reach its audience through a digital channel.

Speaking about the project, James Coughlan, Partner with Noise Inc., said: “This marks a first for a major music industry Awards programme to embrace the new technology of apps in its voting system, and Noise Inc. is thrilled to be the partner who could make it possible.”

Maggie Crowe, BRITs Event Director said: “The BRIT Awards with MasterCard is delighted to be able to launch its first ever App.  We want to keep in touch with our fans through their iPhones, with apps, and Noise Inc. has helped us make it possible for them to connect directly with The BRITs to vote and keep up to date with all our latest news.”

MasterCard will also shortly be announcing how consumers can use the app to participate in an exciting new competition, an extension of its highly successful 'Something for the Fans' campaign for The BRITs in 2011.
