Tanlines to Release Debut Album ‘Mixed Emotions’

Saturday, 14 January 2012 Written by Rob Sleigh

New York-based experimental pop duo Tanlines have announced details of their debut album ‘Mixed Emotions’, which is due for release on 19th March. Album track ‘Brothers’ is available to listen to below. ‘Mixed Emotions’ follows the 2010 release of the Tanlines compilation album ‘Volume On’, which featured all of the band’s EPs to date as well as a number of remixes.

Tanlines were formed in Brooklyn in 2008 by Eric Emm (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Jesse Cohen (drums, keyboards, bass). They spent much of the following years performing on the New York gig circuit and even managed to take their live show worldwide. Their music evolved after a European tour, on which the duo spent the long hours listening to a variety of different artists. Speaking about this experience, Emm said: “Listening to them, I became very aware of the lasting resonance of a good song. A good song transcends production trends. That’s what we were missing, and I wanted to start making songs that could last forever.”

Tanlines have previously toured with the likes of Yeasayer and Julian Casablancas. The duo are expected to announced a number of European dates in the near future.
