Singer Etta James Passes Away At Age 73

Superstar singer Etta James has sadly passed away at age 73, after a year-long fight with Leukaemia.

The American reportedly passed away at a hospital in Riverside, California, after being diagnosed with the blood cancer early on in 2011. She was just days away from her 74th birthday, but died peacefully at the side of her husband Artis Miller and her two sons Donto and Sametto.

The news was broken by manager Lupe de Leon, who said in a statement: “This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world. She was a true original who could sing it all - her music defied category. I worked with Etta for over 30 years. She was my friend and I will miss her always.”
