Spice Girls To Reunite For 2012 London Olympics Concerts?

The rumour mill is stepping up a gear ahead of the summer’s 2012 London Olympics, with a number of different musicians, bands and artists all being speculated at for the official Olympics concerts – but it’s girl-group the Spice Girls who currently seem to be the favourites for the show.

Earlier this month, we wrote a story featuring Mel B talking about the idea of a reunion tour – as well as performing at the Olympics concerts. At the time, it was just Mel B who was really relishing the idea, but now it seems more of the girls are feeling the idea of a come-back, four years after their last reunion and twelve years after they originally split in 2000.

Initially, Mel B said: “I would never say never. I think it's possible. I'd love it if we got back together and got to go on tour,” but it’s now been reported in the Daily Mail that “Scary Spice has the full support of Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, and the mother-of-one has said in the past that she would jump at the chance to take over a stage one more time.”

Sporty Spice Mel C has joined in with the speculation, adding: “The Olympics would be brilliant, but I don’t know the truth. I’d love to do something, but it would have to involve all five of us.” Victoria Beckham, though, is reportedly refusing to commit to the idea as she’s unsure whether she wants to venture out with the girls again. This leaves Baby Spice Emma Bunton the only Spice Girl to comment on the idea.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail ran an article suggesting that Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney and Madonna were all lined-up as possible performers, and that Led Zeppelin could also make an appearance – but they’ve since pulled the story.
