The Original Happy Mondays Line-Up Reform For May UK Tour

Legendary Madchester band The Happy Mondays have announced they are to reform for a nationwide tour in May. Support on the tour will come from fellow Manchester outfit Inspiral Carpets.

The original Happy Mondays line-up, consisting of Bez, Gary Whelan, Mark Day, Paul Davies, Paul Ryder, Rowetta and Shaun Ryder, are back! Rowetta told BBC Radio Manchester the group had been talking about reforming for a while and had made the decision to tour again last week.

"We want to put on a really good show," Rowetta told Darryl Morris. "We decided it would only be special and work if it was the total, original line-up. We're all really excited. They are my family, these boys; I've really missed them... and I'm sure they've missed each other."

Happy Mondays have reformed previously, however, on this occasion it will be the first time the original line-up has played together since 1992. The group will embark on a UK tour in May which will include dates in Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Bournemouth, London's O2 Brixton Academy, Birmingham, Dublin, Leeds, Nottingham and a huge hometown show at Manchester's MEN Arena.

Happy Mondays 2012 UK Tour Dates are as follows:

May 3rd – Newcastle O2 Academy
May 5th – Manchester MEN Arena
May 6th – Sheffield O2 Academy
