White Stripes and Raconteurs frontman Jack White is set to release his first ever solo album on April 23rd – and has now spoken to press about to reveal some of the details behind his new venture.
‘Blunderbuss’ is his debut album as a solo artist, and will feature his first single release ‘Love Interruption’, which comes out on 7” record on February 7th. Appearing on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show, White spilt some beans on his decision to go solo.
“I didn't really even think of recording under my own name for a long time, I thought 'I've got the rest of my life to do that’,” he told Lowe. “A few months ago, we had a session booked and someone didn't show up, so I said, 'I guess we'll do some of my songs'... It kick-started the whole process.”
He continued on to explain that he wrote a lot of his song for the album recently, adding: “I only had a couple at first… when you're in [rock supergroup] The Dead Weather, all four of us wrote songs together in the same room, so I would never write songs on my own for that band.”
Recently, White made the unlikely move to collaborate with make-up-caked clown rappers Insane Clown Posse – check that out here.
