M.I.A May Be Forced To Cough Up Cash If NBC Receive Middle Finger Fine

British hip-hop and alternative dance musician M.I.A may have to pay to any fine forced upon broadcaster NBC after the female star after giving the whole Superbowl crowd the finger on Sunday night.

According to media news and gossip site TMZ, the star signed a contract with the NFL (National Football League) which states that she must reimburse/pay any fines cast upon them because of their actions during the Superbowl half-time show. And, unsurprisingly, there was a number of complaints after the game on Sunday after M.I.A brandished her middle finger to the massive audiences, both in-stadium and those watching on television.

It’s unknown whether a fine will actually be given for the incident, especially after the network apologised in full, but if there is, M.I.A could be paying a hefty load of cash – Janet Jackson was fined $550,000 after a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ caused her nipple to slip out in 2004.

NBC’s apology read: “The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show. Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers. There was a failure in NBC's delay system. The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologise to our fans.”

Meanwhile, singing superstar Madonna, who was the main act during the Superbowl half-time show, has announced three UK and Ireland dates for her summer tour. Check the dates and details below to get your hands on tickets.
