Following on from a story we posted earlier today, Lana Del Rey has now denied claims that she has cancelled a 30-date tour of her home-country because of her ill-received performance on Saturday Night Live.
It was reported that Del Rey had lined-up a 30-date tour of the US which would see her performing in venues with 1,000+ capacities – the biggest tour the star would have embarked on in her career. But, following her performance on SNL, which saw a number of celebrities and viewers harshly criticising her, her management reportedly decided that wasn’t actually ready for a full-scale tour just yet.
But now, Del Rey has come forward to deny the claims, with her publicist e-mailing MTV to clear up the situation. She described the stories as totally ‘not accurate’ and added: “There has never been a spring tour announced or cancelled.”
Her label reportedly denied to comment on the situation but had previously been quoted as saying: “Interscope had nothing to do with booking or postponing a tour. [Interscope chairman] Jimmy [Iovine] is excited and thankful that Lana is performing at a Grammy event in his honour this week.”
We’ll keep you up-to-date on this story as it unfolds.
