Lady Gaga Talks About Suffering From & Overcoming Bulimia In High School

Eccentric pop superstar Lady Gaga has claimed that she overcame eating disorder bulimia in order to save her singing voice and career.
According to the Huffington Post, Gaga suffered from the disorder while she was in high school, with the reportedly discussing her ordeal at a Young Women conference at a school in Los Angeles. Speaking to the crowd, she confessed that bulimia ‘made her voice bad’ and encouraged those that maybe don’t have singing as a reason to overcome the illness to seek help before it’s too late.
“I used to throw up all the time in high school,” Gaga told the crowd, “so I'm not that confident. And maybe it's easier for me to talk about it now because I don't do it anymore. I wanted to be a skinny little ballerina but I was a voluptuous little Italian girl.
“Dad had meatballs on the table every night. I used to come home and say, 'Dad, why do you always give us this food? I need to be thin. 'And he'd say, 'Eat your spaghetti.”
She continued: “It made my voice bad. So I had to stop. The acid on your vocal chords – it's very bad but for those of you who don't sing, you maybe don't have that excuse until it's too late. It's very dangerous.”
