Birdy Unveils Music Video For New Single '1901'

15-year-old singer-songwriter Birdy (AKA Jasmine Van den Bogaerde) has announced she will release '1901', the fourth single from her self-titled debut album, on 5th March. You can watch the music video for the track below.

Ever since her version of Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’ hit the radio, the New Forest singer has received rotation on a variety of radio playlists including Radio 1, Heart FM, and XFM of her follow up singles 'Shelter' and 'People Help The People'. Furthermore, she has had continuous support from Radio 1’s Fearne Cotton who Birdy met for her first radio interview and Live Lounge performance.

After her live performances of ‘Shelter’ and her cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘The A Team’, she was the second most viewed UK musician on YouTube. In total, she’s had more than 29 million combined views of her content on YouTube and has acquired over 45,000 followers on Twitter.

Her album features unique interpretations of songs by Bon Iver, Cherry Ghost, Phoenix, The National, The Postal Service and The xx. The LP also features an original track; 'Without A Word', which was given away via her website as a free download prior to the album release downloaded over 10 thousand times.

On the recording process of '1901', Birdy commented, “When I first started putting it together, I didn’t think this one was going to work, because the original by Phoenix is such an upbeat song, and it’s quite hard to work out the notes because there’s so many instruments in it. And I to be honest, I just didn’t think it would suit me at all. But it’s turned out to be one of my favourites, because it’s quite different from the rest of the songs. I really like it.”
