Sir Paul McCartney Says There 'Wasn't Enough Passion' For Beatles Reunion

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that the Beatles did once think about reuniting – but there ‘wasn’t enough passion’ to go ahead with the plan.

Macca has confessed that following their 1970 break-up, the band discussed getting back together on many separate occasions, but there was never enough ‘passion’ or desire to warrant them making a comeback – with the group adamant that they wouldn’t ruin their legacy.

McCartney told the Rolling Stone: “There was talk of reforming The Beatles a couple of times, but it didn't gel, there was not enough passion behind the idea. More importantly, it could have spoiled the whole idea of the Beatles, so wrong what they'd be like, 'Oh, my God, they weren't any good.

“The reformation suggestions were never convincing enough. They were kind of nice when they happened – 'That would be good, yeah' – but then one of us would always not fancy it. And that was enough, because we were the ultimate democracy.”

Meanwhile, the star has scheduled his first shows of the year. Following the announcement that Paul is set to headline the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee Concert on Monday 4th June, Paul has confirmed his first live dates of 2012 as he gets back out 'On the Run' in Europe with the all new leg of his 'On the Run' tour.
