Last week The Charlatans created their own cereal, this week they’ve revolutionised one of the world’s most iconic scientific images: The Periodic Table of the Elements.
Created to celebrate the anniversary of the first periodic table by Dmitri Mendeleev in March 1869, ‘The Periodic Turntable of The Charlatans’ can be purchased in the form of a signed, limited edition poster from the band's online store.
Tim Burgess teamed up with friend Nick Fraser and Aiden Smith at Proof Spirit to recreate the periodic table, replacing each element with a track from The Charlatans back catalogue. Alongside their own symbols, each musical element also includes track durations and album credits, creating the ultimate Charlatans resource.
When asked about The Periodic Turntable, Tim Burgess had this to say: The periodic turntable may not be able to tell you how to create nuclear energy but it will tell you who did backing vocals on tracks from 'Wonderland'. Who knew science could be so cool?”
Hand-numbered and signed by the whole band, posters of The Periodic Turntable are priced at £50.00 and are strictly limited to only 123 copies, tying in with the number of tracks that appear on the table. (Note: the original periodic table contains only 118 elements!)
You can see the table in more detail and purchase the posters from www.thecharlatans.net.
The Charlatans are also re-releasing their album 'Tellin' Stories' on 28th May and will be heading out on tour in June to celebrate its 15th anniversary, performing the album in full.
The Charlatans UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:

Fri June 8th 2012 - HMV Hammersmith Apollo, London
