Brit-pop legends Blur will showcase a brand new, never-heard-before track at the Olympic Games closing ceremony this summer, where the reunited band will be playing a headline slot.
The show, which will take place in Hyde Park on August 12th, is set to be an epic showcase of classic British bands, with Blur the main entertainers in a gig that will also see 2-tone ska legends The Specials perform, as well as New Order. Now, it’s even been confirmed that Damon Albarn and co will be treating fans to a rendition of a brand new track.
Bassist Alex James made the announcement via Top Gear yesterday, telling host Jeremy Clarkson that ‘we’ve got a new song to unveil – and that it was a ‘tear-jerker’ and ‘like a hymn’. He added: “I just listened to it this morning.”
James went on to talk about the groups appearance at the BRITs, which saw them play a set after picking up the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. “It was utterly magnificent to get back together and smash those songs out again.”
