True Pop Royalty Mohombi Announces Release Of Debut Album 'MoveMeant'

There's always much talk about 'pop royalty', but Mohombi takes it to a new level. The son of an African King, over 150 million music video views on You Tube and the first signing to uber-producer Red One’s new label, Mohombi (the legitimate prince of pop), releases his debut album, 'MoveMeant' through Island Records on April 9th.

With a self-proclaimed, dust till dawn party sound that he calls ‘Afro-Viking’, the 25-year-old half Swedish-half African singer-songwriter has pulled in an impressive list of names for his debut album including Nicole Scherzinger, Nelly, Akon and Pitbull. His collaborations with Pitbull on ‘Bumpy Ride’ and Nicole on ‘Coconut Tree’ were both worldwide smashes, selling over a millions copies combined.  In a true testament to his Swedish pop culture and African tribal heritage, MoveMeant is a mix of catchy feel-good anthems and dance floor smashes - the perfect compliment to the current sunny skies here in the UK.



Already a success on the continent, Mohombi has also had multi-platinum selling singles in several European countries including France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and Sweden, and Top Ten hits in Canada and Japan.
  
While many a breathless, newly anointed pop idol will gasp about their ‘journey’ - when in reality it entailed little more than a trip from home to the audition - Mohombi’s tale of escaping civil war in Africa to where he is today, working with the hottest producer on the planet, is a bit more interesting than your average sob story.

The son of an African King-cum-politician, Mohombi escaped war torn Congo in his early teens and relocated to Stockholm where he enjoyed musical success for the first time as a member of the Swedish hip hop outfit Avalon.  Between 2004 and 2008 they sold half a million albums, picked up an African Grammy and performed alongside the likes of Ludacris, Ginuwine and Musiq Soulchild.
