Butch Vig Reveals He Is Recording With Nirvana's Dave Grohl And Krist Novoselic

Legendary record producer Butch Vig has revealed through Twitter that he has once again been recording new material with Nirvana pair Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic – following on from Novoselic’s appearance on Foo Fighter’s last album ‘Wasting Light’, which Vig produced.

Grohl and Novoselic were part of one of the world’s most famous rock bands and are now apparently set to team up together as individual artists for the first time. And, Vig has also revealed that a ‘special guest’ will be recording with them too.

Posting via Twitter, Vig wrote: “The last 24 hours have been surreal! Had a great gig at the El Rey last night, and spent today recording with Dave, Krist and special guest!”

Nothing official has been said yet, meaning Vig’s vague tweet is the only information we have to go on – but it’s still exciting news for rock fans worldwide, and could possibly be another part of Grohl’s up and coming documentary ‘Sound City Studios’, which has seen him work with Vig and a number of other rock icons, such as Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.

Previously speaking about the documentary, Grohl said: “We released a teaser trailer ... there may be an album that accompanies [it]. I recorded a lot of songs with a lot of people in the past couple months. There used to be a recording studio called Sound City that was in the San Fernando Valley. Nirvana recorded there in 1991. It was this really beautiful dump in the middle of a warehouse district. A lot of great records were made there.”

You can check out a trailer for the film below.
