Bleech - Mondays (Single Review)

The London trio Bleech consists of Jennifer O’Neill, Katherine O’Neill and Matt Bick. Their debut single was released back in 2009 and three years later they are releasing their debut album, set for release later this year.

‘Mondays’ is the new single from Bleech and is due for release on April 16th. It is taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘Nude’ which is set to be released through Billie Records later this year.

The band has toured with The Charlatans and Pete Doherty and have also had their new single feature on the BBC drama ‘Waterloo’. The band is without doubt making the right noises to get noticed. Especially as previous singles have already caught the attention of NME Magazine.

The track is infectious and catchy with a hint of rock throughout. I found myself nodding away to it without realising it after the first listen. I couldn’t help but sing along to the catchy chorus “I’m happy when I’m happy, happy when I’m sad, I’m happy cos it’s Monday”. This group is certainly one to look out for in the future. They undoubtedly have the potential to do well and develop in their music.

The video was directed by Sarah Wick and mainly focuses on the mouths of Jennifer and Katherine, as well as a bird’s eye view of Matt playing the drums. It’s not the usual music video you may see, however that is one of the selling points. As there is no storyline with the video, I feel it enables the viewer to listen more to the track instead of paying more attention to the video and what may be happening.
