Tom Petty And The Heartbreaker's Stolen Guitars Found After Pawn Shop Discovery

After a thief stole Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' collection of vintage guitars the band were understandably upset and offered a $48,000 reward for their safe return. So you can imagine that whoever pinched the instruments was looking at some serious money if he attempted to sell them on, unless, of course, he wanted the guitars for himself.
Incredibly, the guitars have now been recovered after one was found in a Hollywood-based pawn shop, on sale for just $250.00 (£156.00), mere pocket change compared to what the haul, which included a vintage 1967 12-string blonde Rickenbacker 360, could have sold for. In addition, the alleged thief turned out to be private security guard Daryl Washington, who was working in the studio in which the guitars were stolen.
James C Cella, CEO of Culver Studios, said in a statement: “We're relieved and extremely pleased that all of Tom Petty's stolen guitars have been recovered and that a suspect has been arrested. Our security department cooperated fully with the Culver City Police in the effort to solve this crime.
“Even though the alleged culprit was not an employee of the Culver Studios but worked for an independent contractor, we feel a real sense of responsibility for everything that happens on our lot and we have conveyed our profound apologies to Mr Petty for the distress the incident has caused him.”
Luckily the instruments were found before the band's run of UK dates in June, when the band perform in London, Dublin and Cork. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:
