Madonna Ticket Buyers Don't Want New 'MDNA' Album For Free?

Superstar Madonna thought she was on to a winner when she decided to give away coupons for her brand new album 'MDNA' with every ticket bought to her summer US shows – but the coupons haven't had the takeup as expected, according to a report in Forbes.
As expected, tickets for Madonna's shows have been flying out the window at a phenomenal rate – with 600,000 apparently sold already for the US shows. But, although the tickets have come with a coupon that gives you 'MDNA' for free, the album has sold an estimated 420,000 copies since it's release 3 weeks ago.
The new Madonna album did go straight to the top of the charts upon it's release, and sold a cool 359,000 copies in its first week alone. But, the following week, it suffered a massive decline in sales – an 88% decline to be exact – and sold just 46,000 units in the seven days. And, it seems virtually giving the album away for free hasn't helped shift many more either. With the proliferation of illegal downloading and the emergence of streaming services such as Spotify, the actual number of fans in possession of 'MDNA' is difficult to know for certain - and could be double or triple the actual number of albums sold.
But, while 'MDNA' may not have sold as many 'legal' copies as you would expect from the Queen of Pop, you can always guarantee that any Madonna show is going to sell-out – and sales of tickets to her concerts haven't been dwindling at all.
