Damon Albarn U-Turns On Comments Regarding Future Of Blur And Gorillaz

Musical genius Damon Albarn has told fans that his bands Blur and Gorillaz are not over for good – just weeks after revealing that the Olympics Closing Ceremony would be Blur's last gig.

Albarn has been playing with his fans emotions recently, with stories suggesting that a new Blur record would be on the way, to telling them that Blur wouldn't perform again after their Olympic gig. He's even tried to can his cartoon-based side project Gorillaz, and told fans that it would be 'unlikely' to see anything coming from them either.

But now, Albarn has backtracked – and told Metro that the neither band is finished.

Asked by the paper about the comments and whether Blur and Gorillaz were officially over, he said: “No. That comes from an article which was an interesting take on a very long conversation. I don't know how we'll feel when we play Hyde Park. Some days I feel one way and other days I feel the other. If you don't see something as a career but as an important part of your life, you don't know how you're going to feel about it.”

He added: “We want to put on a great performance but nothing's been said between us about the beginning or the end.”

Then, when asked about Gorillaz, Albarn replied: “When Jamie [Hewlett] and I have worked out our differences, I'm sure we'll make another record.”

You can catch Blur alongside New Order, The Specials and many more at the Olympics Closing Ceremony on August 12th. Click here to Compare & Buy Blur Tickets at Stereoboard.
