American singer-songwriter Bobby Brown has claimed that he is not the cause of Whitney Houston's drug usage – and claimed that he wasn't aware that she was still battling with addiction in the months before her death.
Houston died in February earlier this year after drowning in a bathtub, something attributed to the use of cocaine. In the wake of her passing, many people, including friends and fans, pointed the finger at Brown – who was formerly married to the star – and blamed him for the singers drug addictions. But, speaking in an interview for American network NBC, Brown has claimed that he 'is not the reason she's gone'.
“I'm not the one that got Whitney on drugs, at all,” he told the 'Today' show. “I'm not the reason she's gone.”
He continued: “I was hurt ... because, you know, me being off of narcotics for the last seven years - I felt that she was, you know, I didn't know she was struggling with it still. But at the same time, you know - listen, it's a hard fight.”
