World beating boyband One Direction have hit yet another personal milestone, after their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful' reached two million sales in the US alone.
The incredible stateside success of the group has continued following their massive tour alongside Big Time Rush (which resulted in the group receiving their own US television show) and now their own headline tour, with their debut single now receiving double platinum status.
They registered 146,405 sales this week alone, bringing the total sales in the Statesto 2,060,303. Since its release in February the single has peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was recently featured on an episode of Glee.
To date, One Direction’s debut album ‘Up All Night’ has sold in excess of 600,000 copies in the USA, with 40,188 sales this week. In the process they became the first ever UK boyband to debut at #1 on the US Billboard Chart with their first album.
They’ve performed live and appeared on the likes of The Today Show, Saturday Night Live and the 2012 Kids Choice Awards. Additionally, the band have also hit over 300,000 US downloads of their second stateside single ‘One Thing’.
The group are now working on the follow-up to their incredible debut and are touring the US throughout the summer, before returning to the UK for another headline tour in 2013. If you're a fan, you can check their UK dates out below – follow the links to find their North American tour dates too.
