Lady Gaga’s long-time manager Troy Carter has denied that the eccentric pop superstar will be toning down her image for shows on her Born This Way Ball world tour – despite the fact that the star’s ‘provocative’ act may result in her being barred from performing in certain cities.
Gaga has come under fire already from Islamic extremists in Indonesia, which has resulted in Jakarta police denying the star a permit for her up and coming show on June 3rd – a gig which Gaga herself has hinted may still go ahead.
But, despite the uproar that Gaga manages to bring to certain less liberal countrie, her manager Carter has rubbished the idea of the star toning it down – saying at the Music Matters 2012 conference: “We play the show as it is, it's a very specific show to a very specific audience. Truth be told, she's not up there nude, she's not doing anything provocative for the sake of being provocative.”
He continued: “You're dealing with a few different things, you are dealing with politics, because it's things happening on a governmental level, you're dealing with religion so it's a little bit more complicated than changing her outfit. If Gaga is going to play for 12-year-olds at a Bar Mitzvah, she is not going to do certain things. So that just comes with a matter of respect.”
The statement comes after Gaga was described as ‘vulgar’ and accused of spreading ‘satanic teaching’.
