Stereoboard Recommends: Wireless Festival 2012 (Top 5 Must-Sees!)

If you’re attending this year’s edition of London’s Barclaycard Wireless Festival, the chances are that you’ve probably bought your ticket in the hope of catching exclusive performances from chart-bothering pop behemoths such as Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Deadmau5 or, god forbid, Tulisa. That’s fine. Nobody’s judging you. We’re all pals here. However, if you can manage to find the time in between spilling a warm pint of Tuborg down some geezer’s polo shirt, or accidentally becoming the new victim of a rowdy hen party, Stereoboard has gone through the line-up’s undercard with a fine-toothed comb so the more musically curious amongst you may have at least some chance of escaping Cher Lloyd and her horrendously swaggered jagger over the weekend.

Santigold

Where:Pepsi Max Stage, Friday

Why: Her quirky combination of dub-infused pop and infectious vocal hooks won mass acclaim back in 2008 with her debut album, and after disappearing for four years, her sophomore album ‘Master Of My Make-Believe’ is packed with enough gargantuan hooks to see us through another four.

The-Dream

Where: Barclaycard Unwind Stage, Saturday

Why: He’s responsible for the three biggest pop hits of the 00’s (Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’, Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ and Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’), yet his solo work remains criminally underrated. His brand of brutally honest RnB has arguably paved the way for the likes of Drake, Frank Ocean and The Weeknd.

A$AP Rocky

Where: Pepsi Max Stage, Sunday

Why: His mixtape ‘LiveLoveA$AP’ caused such an enormous buzz last year that curiosity alone should be enough of a factor. That, and the fact we all want to go a bit mental to the luscious, Clams Casino-produced ‘Purple Swag’.

AlunaGeorge

Where: Barclaycard Unwind Stage, Saturday

Why: They’ve caused a fair bit of excitement in certain muso circles with their track ‘You Know You Like It’, and with good reason; it sounds like TLC processed through some sort of mental post-dubstep filter. This is a good thing.

AraabMUZIK

Where: Barclaycard Unwind Stage, Friday

Why: If you’ve seen him live, you’d know that his fingers are strong enough crush a thousand skulls at once. Just watch the video if you don’t believe us.

The Barclaycard Wireless Festival takes place at London’s Hyde Park on July 6th (Deadmau5), July 7th (Drake) and July 8th (Rihanna). Wireless Festival Tickets are on sale now. Click Here to Compare & Buy Wireless Festival Tickets.
