Kylie Minogue Picks Up The 25th Anniversary O2 Silver Clef Award

Nordoff Robbins, the national specialist music charity, announced today that Kylie Minogue will be accepting a very special O2 Silver Clef Award at the annual event held this year at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on June 29th 2012.

Kylie Minogue will be presented with a unique award this year, the ‘25th Anniversary O2 Silver Clef Award’ which has not been awarded before. Nordoff Robbins couldn’t be happier than to be bestowing this honour on the talented and unique Kylie Minogue.

Kylie says: “I am thrilled and honoured to be receiving the 25th Anniversary O2 Silver Clef Award from Nordoff Robbins. The work that Nordoff Robbins does, using music therapy to transform the lives of vulnerable children and adults is amazing. This will be a special event and I am delighted to be able to attend and reunite with many friends too.”

The O2 Silver Clef Awards is hosted by Nordoff Robbins at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on Friday 29th June. The star-studded annual event which is known for its ‘who’s who’ audience of A-list musical heavyweights recognises outstanding musical talent whilst raising money and awareness for the national specialist music charity Nordoff Robbins, who use music to transform the lives of vulnerable children and adults.

Kylie Minogue is undoubtedly one of the world’s best loved female performing artists. Fresh from performing at the Queen’s Jubilee concert outside Buckingham Palace and recently releasing her latest smash single ‘Timebomb’, Kylie is also promoting her greatest hits package ‘The Best of Kylie Minogue’, which contains 21 tracks, 18 of which were top five hits in the UK!

So it is no surprise that she is being congratulated for her achievements joining Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jessie J, Michael Bublé, Emilé Sande, Conor Maynard, Fatboy Slim, Manic Street Preachers, and Laura Wright who have already been announced this year together with presenters Alfie Boe, Tom Jones, Peter Kay and Tinie Tempah.

Nuala Donnelly from the O2 Sponsorship Team says: "2012 is a year of celebration for the UK, for O2 and for the Silver Clef awards in aid of Nordoff Robbins. The tenth birthday both of O2 and the awards is a huge landmark and shows how committed we are to supporting Nordoff Robbins in its music therapy work. We want to continue to help Nordoff Robbins reach new audiences and the Silver Clef awards are perfect for this, getting bigger and better each year. We hope this year's celebration of both established music icons and the youngest, freshest stars will gather a whole new host of fans to Nordoff Robbins to help continue to transform lives through music therapy."

David Munns, Chairman, Nordoff Robbins says: “Kylie Minogue is a legend and also an international treasure! Her success across the music industry has been meteoric from the start and she is the obvious choice for our unique 25th Anniversary O2 Silver Clef Award. We are thrilled to be celebrating her success. The O2 Silver Clef Awards began 37 years ago, and through that event alone we have raised over £8m for Nordoff Robbins, allowing us to use music to transform the lives of many thousands of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. Our music therapy work is life changing but we need to raise more funds to continue to reach those who need it the most.”

Nordoff Robbins has 60 therapists providing music therapy services to 100 organisations across the UK, amounting to over 50,000 music therapy sessions every year which are delivered in a variety of settings.

Nordoff Robbins reaches out to so many, helping through music therapy to dramatically enhance and in many ways save the lives of people who they work with and their loved ones. The annual Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards acts as the main fundraising platform for the charity and has brought together an incredible collection of iconic faces and talents since it began in 1975, making it a highlight in the music industry calendar. Previous artists involved include The Who, Paul McCartney, Queen, Def Leppard, Eric Clapton, M People, Coldplay, Take That, Oasis and so many more, including Tinie Tempah and Annie Lennox last year.
