Following the late-2011 release of current album 'Shoplifting 4 Jesus', Alabama 3 have announced a UK tour for November. Alabama 3 Tickets are on sale from 9am on Friday 3rd August.
Alabama 3 were formed in 1995 in Brixton, London and released their debut album ‘Exile on Coldharbour Lane’ in 1997. The album included their track ‘Woke Up This Morning’, which you may have heard as the theme song for hit US drama ‘The Sopranos’.
Speaking about ‘Shoplifting 4 Jesus’, which is inspired by the 2011 UK riots, frontman Larry Love said: “The album’s got another kind of theme running through it - a biblical feel. But it's the Bible-as-Communist manifesto, which is why we thought it would be a good idea to get a few voices reading passages from the good book throughout.”
These voices include best-selling crime writer Martina Cole, who recites the story of Mary Magdalene at the Well, Emmy Award-winning actor Ray Winstone reciting from Exodus, and Bez reading from the Sermon on the Mount.
