On Tuesday 6th August, Joe McElderry, dressed in red, white and blue to show his support of Team GB, took to the stage straight after Sir Chris Hoy won Gold. Singing along to the National Anthem, Joe also belted out new single ‘Here’s What I Believe’ with the crowd continuing to show off their voices by joining in for a sing-a-long, with even a shower of rain unable to dampen their spirits, it just made for synchronised umbrella waving with Joe joining them in the rain. In fact the only time the crowd went silent was during Joe’s moving rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’ which he dedicated to Team GB and their amazing achievements at the 2012 Olympics so far.
After the show, Joe enjoyed a chat with Gymnast Beth Tweddle who even let Joe try on her medal for size. With Joe taking part in this year’s Great North Run in September we hope he doesn’t catch the medal bug and want to join Team GB for Rio Olympics.
Yesterday Joe also became the first person to sing at the Google+ #IWASTHERE booth at Westfield Stratford City when he popped by for a surprise acoustic rendition of new single ‘Here’s What I Believe’. He also took the time to talk about his new album and his favourite moment of the Olympics so far.
‘Here's What I Believe’, the title track from Joe's new album released on Decca on 10th September, is available to download here.
