Russian Prime Minister Calls For Pussy Riot Release

Dmitry Medvedev, the Prime Minister of Russia, has called for the release of the three imprisoned female members of Pussy Riot - claiming that the time they’ve already spent incarcerated is ‘more than enough’.
Medvedev, who did still admit he was ‘sickened’ by the protest which initially saw them arrested, has said that he thinks it would be ‘unproductive’ to leave the three girls inside prison any longer, and that they’d been there long enough to consider their actions.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, the PM said: “The term is very strong. I would even say a terrible burden. I don't want to replace the judge... but the time they have already served is, in essence, more than enough to make them think about what happened, whether it was from their own stupidity or for other reasons.”
The imprisoned activists will have the chance to appeal their sentence on October 1st, but will face two years in jail if their appeal fails. The band are still staying strong, and recently gave a statement to their supporters, saying:
“We've been fighting for the right to sing, to think, to criticise. To be musicians and artists ready to do everything to change our country. No matter the risks, we go on with our musical fight in Russia. Start the pussy riot and never stop. The fight for freedom is an endless battle that is bigger than life.”
