Tulisa: 'Live It Up Was Intended As Strategic Release Rather Than Smash Hit'

Former N-Dubz star turned solo singer Tulisa Contostavlos has claimed that her latest single ‘Live it Up’ - which peaked at just #11 in the UK Singles chart - is simply a strategic release, and is unphased by its failure to break into the Top 1

While #11 isn’t exactly a low chart finish, many were expecting Tulisa’s latest track to emulate the success of ‘Young’, which topped the UK Singles chart earlier this year in April. But, while the single - which features American rapper Tyga - didn’t match it’s ‘#1 finish, it is, according to Tulisa, a strategically released track intended to help sell her forthcoming debut album.

Speaking to the The BBC, Tulisa said: “I said I don't know if it will even get into the top ten. With that single it was strategic to sell the album. I'm not trying to get a number one with this one. I know it's urban. I know that it's probably not going to chart high. I want to show a different side to the album. For me it's a bigger picture.”

What do you think of her assessment of the track? Good strategy or lame excuse? Let us know in the comments section below.
