AEG Live Secure Five Year Deal With Royal Parks Agency For Hyde Park Gigs

Following on from Live Nation the Royal Parks Agency’s messy break-up - which saw the end of a 15-year partnership of live gigs in London’s Hyde Park - AEG Live have now worked out a five-year deal with the company which will see six concerts arranged each year.

The future of some of Hyde Park’s most popular gigs - such as Hard Rock Calling - was thrown into jeopardy with the news that Live Nation had not renewed their contract with the Royal Parks Agency, after they allegedly demanded a sum of money too great for them to realistically put on gigs - as well as having problems with the park’s notoriously early noise curfew.

Now, AEG Live have pounced on the chance to get their hands on the contract, and Linda Lennon - Chief Executive of the Royal Parks Agency - is more than happy.

“Hyde Park has a successful track record of hosting popular large music events. The Royal Parks is excited to be working with AEG Live on developing a new innovative and exciting world class summer concert series, which will provide entertainment while minimising the impact on the park and the local community.”

AEG Live president Jay Marciano also commented, saying: “AEG Live is proud to be partnering with The Royal Parks in the creation of an exceptional and ground-breaking new summer festival for London. Utilising AEG's global resources and expertise in delivering similar landmark music festivals, such as the annual Coachella and Stagecoach festivals in California, this event shall set a new standard for the enjoyment of live music at this iconic location.”

The contract will see events happening from summer 2013 onwards, and although none have been scheduled as of yet, we believe that a Bon Jovi gig is most likely to be announced first - so keep your eyes peeled on Stereoboard for some potential Bon Jovi news.

Commenting on the artists that are likely to grace the Hyde Park stage in coming years, AEG Live’s International Touring President Rob Hallett said: “While Hyde Park has traditionally attracted high calibre artists, our plans for reinvigorating the venue with a fresh and innovative new event already have the artist community very excited. I look forward to bringing the world's premier headlining talent to our pioneering new London festival.”
