Incredible Demand For Kraftwerk Tickets Crashes Tate Modern Website

Pioneering German electronic outfit Kraftwerk are one of the most popular bands in the world, and we knew when they announced their eight gig venture at London’s Tate Modern that tickets would fly out fast. This point has been proved following this morning’s on sale - after the Tate Modern website crashed due to phenomenal demand.

Tickets - which you can find through Stereoboard using our price comparison service below - went on sale at 7:30am, and unsurprisingly, the site crashed shortly after - greeting potential ticket buyers with a ‘Unavailable Service’ message rather than their home page.

This page was then replaced with a message explaining the crash, which read: “Kraftwerk at Tate Modern has just gone on sale and we are experiencing a phenomenal demand for tickets which is affecting our web server. Please try to buy tickets online again later, or call 020 7887 4919 to join the telephone ticketing queue.”

It continued: “We have extra staff on hand today but demand is extremely high. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you, and hope you are successful in getting you tickets.”

While the Tate Modern website simply wasn’t ready for the super-high demand, the hunger for the shows comes as no surprise. Combining sound and images, the performances will showcase nearly 40 years of musical and technical innovation, and will also be their first appearances in London since as far back as 2004.

Dubbed as ‘KRAFTWERK - THE CATALOGUE 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8’, each night will focus on one of Kraftwerk’s hugely-celebrated studio albums in full, and appear in order of their release - 1974’s ‘Autobahn’, 1975’s ‘Radio-Activity’, their 1977 record ‘Trans Europe Express’, ‘The Man-Machine’ (which hit #4 in the UK in 1978), 1981’s ‘Computer World’, 1986’s ‘Techno Pop’, 1991 compilation album ‘The Mix’, and their latest record, 2003’s ‘Tour de France’ - as well as a selection of some of their finest back catalogue material.
