American noise-pop duo Sleigh Bells have promised fans that their soon-come third album will not be as much of a ‘downer’ as their previous effort ‘Reign of Terror’.
The New York-based pair only put out ‘Reign of Terror’ in 2012, but immediately began working on it’s follow-up, and they’re now expecting to put it out ‘sooner rather than later’ - with it most likely hitting shelves before at least the last quarter of the year.
With five tracks already ready for the record, the band have opened up about it’s direction - and have revealed that it’s going to be a lot more ‘positive’ and ‘upbeat’ than yesteryear's predecessor.
Speaking to Aussie radio station Triple J, Sleigh Bells revealed: “We've been really productive. We're 5 songs deep into our new record so it'll be out sooner rather than later. It's not as dark. I kind of worked through a lot of difficult stuff on the last record.
“We always reference Comeback Kid as being the last song that we recorded and that brought us in a different music direction. Different headspace, just more up and positive...not as downer.”
With more writing expected from Alexis Krauss and a more melodic approach, it will be interesting to see how the album compares to their last effort. Are you a fan? What would you like to see from the pair on their new album? Let us know in the comment section below.
