Lil Wayne Released From Hospital Following Seizures

American hip-hop star Lil Wayne has been released from hospital following his recent spate of seizures, which occurred as he filmed a new music video.

The super-selling rapper suffered six seizures over the past week, and saw him rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The news led to a number of rumours of the star’s death circulating the web, though he quickly confirmed via Twitter that he was still alive.

After once leaving hospital, he was readmitted and taken to intensive care after suffering further seizures, and was only released last night (Monday 18th March).

The original seizures took place following the shoot of a music video in LA, and TMZ reported that he was on his deathbed in a coma - something Wayne’s friend and label-boss Mack Maine denied via Twitter, saying: “Wayne is alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game...thanks for the prayers and concern…he will update you all soon" and "We will be releasing an official statement shortly but don't believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe...that's false!!”

After returning to hospital after more seizures - which some people are attributing to the use of ‘purple drank’ or ‘sizzurp’, a fizzy drink infused with codeine (a drug which is often used by those involved with rap, particularly in the ‘dirty south’) - he was finally released last night, with Maine once again confirming the news.

He tweeted:

Lil Wayne is scheduled to perform in Dublin, Ireland this October - check the link below to find tickets.
