Lloyd Cole Announces Autumn UK Tour

Thursday, 18 April 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

'80s Formerly with The Commotions, singer, songwriter Lloyd Cole has announced dates for an autumn UK tour.

Lloyd Cole will release his new album, 'Standards', on Monday 24th June. The record was recorded in late 2012 to early 2013 in LA, New York and at his home in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Produced by Lloyd and mixed by maverick German producer Olaf Opal, the record was part-funded by fans, part-funded by Tapete Records.

Commenting on the album, Lloyd Cole says:

“I wanted to make an album with a small fixed palette of sounds, like a Van Gogh, like ‘Highway 61’.  The format is supposedly dead, but I still want to make albums. Not bunches of songs - albums.  For the last 10 years I’ve been primarily an acoustic musician but this is an album for electric guitars, electric bass and loud drums, with piano and a synthesizer for measure. Not quite monochrome, then, but not ever-changing either: it has a sound.”

Following the release of 'Standards', Cole will return to the UK for a tour kicking-off at London's Union Chapel on 17th October followed by visits to venues in Glasgow (two dates), Wolverhampton, Dublin, Sale, Nottingham, Cambridge and more.
