Criminal Gang Steal Cash In Heist At South African Stadium, Following Recent Justin Bieber Gig

Tuesday, 14 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

A bank heist isn’t the most uncommon of crimes, but this month, a new kind of misdemeanor took place in South Africa - a Bieber heist!

Unfortunately, it’s not Bieber himself that’s been taken away by thieves, but takings from his recent concert in Johannesburg's Soccer City stadium. According to reports from the BBC, a group of criminals armed with ropes, hammers, and chisels managed to break into the stadium - and make off with the takings of both a recent Bieber concert and a Bon Jovi gig.

They apparently picked up a cool £70,000 - or one million rand - after allegedly spending a number of days chiselling through the walls of the stadium, and then using rope to lower themselves into a holding room. It was only yesterday morning that bosses realised they’d been subject to a Mission: Impossible style robbery!

An officer from a local police station revealed:

“The money was taken from the building and they only realised today. We don't know how many people were involved as we are still gathering evidence.”

Another spokesperson added:

“The suspect had gained entry through the roof. They broke the tile of the bathroom between last night [Sunday] after the concert and this morning.”
