Shogun Audio’s one man army himself Rockwell has returned with a blistering new single for summer - but forget sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, ‘cause this one’s a tearing roller that’ll be soiling pants on the dancefloor for the rest of the year.
Once again, Tom Rockwell has showcased his unmatched ability in the studio, and delivered an intense funky-come-techy tune in ‘Detroit’, a track that literally blew Zane Lowe’s subwoofer when he played it at his Radio 1 show earlier this month (you can check out a rip from his show embedded below!).
Also astounding the likes of Mistajam, it’s a track that’ll wipe the smile off the face of the most confident of producers - following a techno-inspired build-up, an incredible piece of drum and bass drops that could have only been made by the one like Rockwell; it oozes the technical brilliance that we saw tracks like ‘Constantcomplexrythmicsound’. Rewind material if we’ve ever heard any!
The track comes backed with a half-time riddim that once again sees Rockwell pulling out all of the weird and wonderful noises that you’d only ever find in the depths of his studio. Evidently inspired by trap music (yeah, there’s ‘WHAT’ samples!), ‘Back Again’ provides the perfect alternative to it’s flip - completing what will probably be one of his biggest singles for a while.
You’ll have to wait until June 10th until you can grab this track, but you can check out Zane Lowe playing it - and loving it - below. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment in the box below!
