New Pet Shop Boys Album 'Sounds Like Early Madonna'

Tuesday, 18 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Electronic pop duo Pet Shop Boys have compared their new album to something you probably wouldn’t have predicted - early Madonna.

‘Electric’, their 12th studio album, hits shelves on July 15, and ahead of its release, the pair have been teasing fans and revealing what they think it sounds like.

Speaking to Time Out, the Boys revealed:

“The album is meant to be pure enjoyment. We realised that it was sounding quite early '80s dance, like Madonna's first album. This album has got that '80s freshness but it still sounds, you know, modern.”

If you’re excited for the album, and don’t want to wait until next month to hear their new tracks, then get yourself to one of two UK performances they’ve got lined-up - which includes a gig in London’s O2. If you need tickets, check the dates and links below.

Pet Shop Boys UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows

Tue June 18th 2013 - LONDON O2 Arena
Thu June 20th 2013 - MANCHESTER Manchester Arena
