Eminem 'Going To Further Territories' On New Album, Says DJ Alchemist

Wednesday, 19 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Rap megastar Eminem is exploring ‘further territories’ for his new record, according to his close friend and collaborator Alchemist.

The 40 year-old, real name Marshall Mathers, last released records in 2009 and 2010, with ‘Relapse’ and ‘Recovery’ respectively. But, though they both managed to go multi-platinum in both the US and the UK (as well as across the globe), they were a far-cry away from the brilliance of his older albums.

But now, with Eminem working on what will be his eighth studio album, DJ Alchemist has promised that he’s ‘getting back on his feet’ - and that he’ll be returning to the Eminem we all fell in love with at the turn of the millennium. He told MTV News:

“Clearly going to further territories. I think what you would expect, especially after the last go-round. He was just getting his feet back on 'Relapse' and then 'Recovery' just came with the smash hits and everything and I think now - he's Eminem.”

Alchemist went on to admit he’s still lucky to be touring with the star. He said:

“It's just a blessing to even be even in that type of circle because I got my foot in the underground, then I go on tour with him. It's just staying humble and remembering I don't deserve these jet planes on my next trip to DJ.”

With a new record shaping up, fans will be hoping he’s got some new material to perform when he hits the UK and Ireland for gigs this summer - he’s lined-up shows in Dublin and Glasgow, and will also headline Reading and Leeds Festival.
