Parkinson's UK Slam Kanye West After Offensive Lyric Appears On 'Yeezus' Track

Thursday, 20 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

A charity that supports those who suffer from Parkinson's disease has hit out at Kanye West, after the hip-hop star rapped about the condition on a track on his new album.

West released his sixth solo album ‘Yeezus’ earlier this week, and he’s currently fighting for the top spot in the UK Albums charts, with Kodaline’s ‘In a Perfect World’ his main competition. But, the 36-year-old isn’t getting much support from Parkinson’s UK, as they’re unhappy with the new album’s opening track On Sight - which features the lyric ‘we get this bitch shaking like Parkinson's’.

Parkinson’s UK chief executive Steve Ford has hit out at West, and said via their official website:

“Kanye West has shown an inexcusable level of stupidity and cruelty towards people living with an incurable condition. Life with Parkinson's is difficult enough without becoming fodder for insensitive celebrities, who should know better, looking for their next big hit.”

“People with Parkinson’s have to cope with intolerable social discrimination on a daily basis – often to the point where they are afraid to go out in public. This sort of thoughtless, callous comment can only serve to make things even worse for them.”

What do you think of the story? Should Kanye apologise to the charity and Parkinson’s sufferers in general? Leave us a comment in the box below!
