Robot Musicians' Debut Marks End Of Human Bands - Watch Now!

Monday, 24 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

A brand new band made entirely of robots has made its debut, kicking off what is believed to be the rise of robot musicians and the demise of human ones!

Consisting of a lead guitarist, a drummer, and a keyboard-player, the band performed alongside two female singers at a gig in Liquidroom in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo - and got a standing ovation.

Mach - the band’s lead guitarist - was designed by DJ Tasaka, and features 78 fingers and uses 12 picks, which is just 10 less than what I can use when I really try. The drummer Ashura - who was also designed by Tasaka - plays 22 drums using his six arms.

They’re joined by keyboard-player Cosmo - created by Tokyo University professor and artist Yoichiro Kawaguchi - and they form Z-Machines, the best (and only) robotic band in the world. Check out one of Tasaka’s original pieces below.
