Jay-Z Unveils New Tracks Holy Grail Ft Justin Timberlake And Part II (On The Run) Ft Beyonce

Thursday, 04 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Jay-Z has made two tracks from his brand new album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ available to stream - you can check them out below.

'Holy Grail’ features Justin Timberlake, and also makes use of lyrics from Nirvana’s classic mega-hit ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. Jay-Z raps ‘and we all just, entertainers, and we're stupid, and contagious’ twice, while the song also contains the line ‘I know nobody to blame, Kurt Cobain, I did it to myself.’

Also unveiled is another brand new track from the record he recorded with his wife Beyonce, called ‘Part II (On the Run)’. Produced by Timbaland, it’s the follow-up to their 2002 hit 'Bonnie & Clyde’, which hit #2 in the UK.

The new stream follows yesterday’s unveiling of the album’s artwork, which was displayed next to one of the four remaining copies of the actual Magna Carta in the Salisbury Cathedral. You can check out our coverage of it here - Salisbury Cathedral has since commented on the move, saying:

“We are delighted that Jay-Z has chosen Salisbury Cathedral, home to the finest of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta, as the location for the global premiere of his artwork for 'Magna Carta... Holy Grail'. We know how important Magna Carta, and all it represents, is to people across the globe. The ideals it embodies are still relevant today.

“Jay-Z, through his album, is creating a huge awareness of this historic document and its modern significance to a huge audience in the run up to its 800th anniversary in 2015. We hope to welcome many of his fans here this summer to see the artwork in the Chapter House alongside our Magna Carta.”

You can check out both the tracks below - the new album is available from the Samsung Jay-Z Magna Carta app now, or on CD from next week.
