Foxygen Cancel US Tour Dates After Frontman Breaks Leg Falling Off Stage

Thursday, 01 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

American indie-rockers Foxygen have been forced to cancel a series of US tour dates after frontman Sam France broke his leg in a stage fall.

France was taken to hospital and required surgery following the incident, at Minneapolis’ First Avenue, and the band have been forced to cancel a number of tour dates - though they were still in high spirits, joking that France would get a ‘cool cane’.

Speaking to fans via Facebook, they said:

“Sadly, the Vancouver & Seattle shows will have to be cancelled. Sam needs to have surgery this morning. We will be back. Still a chance that Pickathon shows will happen, though they might be subdued performances. It all depends on healing & travel time. On the bright side, Sam will probably have a cool cane or something. Thank you all for understanding & much love to Twin Peaks for being awesome on this short, short tour. We'll play again soon.”

Foxygen recently cancelled their scheduled June UK tour too, as they needed to protect the ‘creative health’ of the band. They said in a statement:

“We have some unfortunate news. We have to cancel our upcoming EU dates for May/June and upcoming EU summer festival dates. We'd like apologize to all our European fans and supporters. We know this causes frustration and headaches for ticket buyers and promoters alike. We assure you this is ultimately for the creative health of the band. We will back in EU soon and promise to make this up to all of you. Please understand. Thank you again, all of you. Your time, attention and support mean the world to us. Love, Foxygen.”
