Pharrell Williams Set For One Direction Collaboration

US star Pharrell Williams has confirmed that he’s planning to head to the studio with world-beating boyband One Direction.

The singer, songwriter and producer is hot property at the moment having featured on Daft Punk’s mega hit Get Lucky, their new single Lose Yourself to Dance, Robin Thicke’s Number 1 smash Blurred Lines and Azealia Banks’ upcoming track ATM Jam, and was rumoured to be also working with Harry Styles and co.

Pharrell himself has now confirmed that he and the 1D lads are in talks, while SyCo boss Simon Cowell has also commented on the potential collaboration revealing that he had spoken to Pharrell personally.

Pharrell told the Sunday Mirror:

“We are definitely talking." Pharrell said. "From what I've heard of their new stuff I'm pleasantly surprised. Their new stuff is definitely a progression and an elevation. I will hopefully be getting involved as we are definitely in talks.

“I don't think some people realise how hard those boys work. There is so much more that goes into One Direction than just the band. They are a brand and are huge. They are incredibly hard-working. I'm sure it will excite our female fans if we're on a record together.”

Speaking of the possibility of pairing them up with Pharrell, Cowell said:

“I spoke to Pharrell about working with us on something. I've known him for a long, long time and he was saying to me that it's just unbelievable what's happening with him.”

The new collaboration is expected to feature on 1D’s anticipated third album ‘Midnight Memories’, which is set for release on November 25. The record will be followed by a massive UK stadium tour in spring 2014.
