Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson Confirmed as Judge on BBC's The Voice

Friday, 20 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Ricky Wilson - frontman of indie-rock band Kaiser Chiefs - has been named as one of the new judges of BBC talent show The Voice UK.

Wilson completes the panel for the third series of the programme, which kicks off in January next year. He joins Kylie Minogue - who was announced as the first new judge earlier this month - and original crew-members Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am. Wilson and Minogue replace Jessie J and the Script’s Danny O’Donoghue.

The news was confirmed by the BBC, with Wilson revealing that although he was joining the show, Kaiser Chiefs were far from over. He told Media Centre:

“Who doesn't want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue? I spent last winter yelling at The Voice, and both Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am were total superstars. I'm just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan!”

Kylie and Wilson are clearly excited about working together - check out their tweets!

Although Wilson is the final judge to be added to the roster, he’s not the only star who’ll be making their first appearance on the show in 2014. JLS’s Marvin Humes, who’ll be performing his last tour with the boyband in December, has been announced as Emma Willis’ co-host.

Humes isn’t ready to leave the industry just yet, and as well as holding down his position as a Capital FM radio DJ, he’s happy to be one of The Voice UK’s new faces. He told fans via a new statement:

“I'm so excited to be a part of the new series of The Voice. I have always been a big fan of the show and love that musicians are given such a great opportunity to reach such a wide audience. I'm thrilled to be working alongside Emma and be part of a new team on The Voice.

“It's going to be even bigger and better with this new series. I can't wait to start.”
