Hammercult Delay New Album Until Next Year

Wednesday, 02 October 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Israeli thrashers Hammercult have delayed the release of their next album until early next year.

Tel Aviv’s finest extreme metal exports were initially set to release their second studio album ‘Steelcrusher’ later this year, but following the departure of founding member and lead guitarist Arie Aranovich last month, the release date has been pushed back to January 27 2014.

The highly-acclaimed band, who formed in 2010 and went on to win the 2011 Wacken Metal Battle, released their debut album ‘Rise of the Hammer’ a couple of years ago, and plan to make their triumphant return in the very near future.

It’s unclear whether Aranovich will feature on the record and the band haven’t yet found a replacement (they’ve even put an ad on their Facebook looking for a new player), but they’re still excited to get their second album out to people.

Frontman Yakir Shochat has commented on the record and their label Sonic Attack::

“We definitely have European influences and have grown up with bands like Kreator, Destruction and Sodom. Lots of important groups signed with Noise Records in their early days. That’s why we’re particularly happy that Steelcrusher will be out on Sonic Attack, Noise founder Karl Walterbach’s current label. So as fans of that great Noise era, we’ve come full circle in that respect.”
